United Insulation's complete range of glass wool products has formally achieved the CodeMark certification by New Zealand and Australia and is the first glass wool manufacturer in China to gain this certificate
2025-09-30
August 25, 2025, China – United Insulation, a globally leading supplier of high-end insulation materials, today officially announced that its entire product lineup of glass wool products-rolls, boards, pipe shells, and aluminum foil facing-has attained a high score in the recently granted CodeMark product conformity certification, certificate number: CMNZ70169, becoming the first glass wool brand in China and one of the very few globally to secure this certification. The CodeMark certificate, issued by a third-party organization called JAS-ANZ, jointly recognized by the governments of Australia and New Zealand, is valid indefinitely.

What is CodeMark certification, and which countries does it cover?
The CodeMark is the highest level of voluntary building product certification officially launched by Australia and New Zealand; it is managed by JAS-ANZ, the Joint Recognition System of Australia and New Zealand.
Products that receive CodeMark certification are "automatically accepted by the building codes of both countries" without having to go through local councils or even architects for review. This directly equates to "meeting all mandatory provisions of the NCC - National Building Code of Australia - and the NZBC - New Zealand Building Code."
Coverage Areas:
Australia includes all states such as Western Australia, Queensland, and Victoria.
New Zealand (including all states)
The South Pacific island nations, namely Fiji and Tonga (with partial mutual recognition)
What exactly does CodeMark assess for glass wool?
The certification is based on Australian NCC 2022 Volume 1 & 2 and New Zealand NZBC Clauses E3, B2, F2, and H1. An accredited third-party organization subjected the products to an intense, 14-month audit and testing process, specifically looking at:
Thermal resistance performance (AS/NZS 4859.1)
Fire-resistance performance - AS 1530.1, AS 1530.3 testing
Durability: 50 years without settling or pulverizing
Hazardous substance release: formaldehyde and VOCs
Factory production consistency control: 4 unannounced audits per year
Detailed product technical manuals and installation guidelines fully meet the requirements of both countries.
Once certified, the product can permanently use the CodeMark mark and certificate number. The builder only needs to declare "CodeMark CMNZ70169".
Why is CodeMark considered the "ultimate passport" in the Australian and New Zealand markets?
Australia: Each state parliament has indicated from 2025 onwards that it will give preference or make acceptance of products bearing CodeMark mandatory. Review time for non-CodeMark products has been extended by an average of 6–18 months with increased costs by AU$30,000–80,000.
New Zealand: MBIE has made it very clear publicly that a CodeMark product does not have to go through any part of the BCA review process, but can go straight to construction.
The total market size of glass wool in Australia and New Zealand is above AU$860 million for 2024–2025, while more than 80% of government, school, hospital, airport, and data center projects are specifying explicitly "CodeMark certified insulation only."
Chinese glass wool, without CodeMark certification, is virtually unable to formally enter tenders or the supply chains of large construction companies either in Australia or New Zealand.
Why was United Insulation able to pass all its product lines' certifications on the first attempt? Key Highlights of this CodeMark Test:
Thermal resistance (includes air gap) to R-3.6 roofing application
SGS ASTM E84 test: no flashover, no flame spread, extremely low smoke density
50-year settlement rate ≤1% (industry average 3–5%)
Formaldehyde emission as low as 0.005 ppm, which is virtually undetectable
One-time coverage for all thicknesses - 25–200mm, whatever the density, without any restrictions
Our commitment to our clients:
“CodeMark is not just a certificate, but a lifelong commitment to our clients in Australia and New Zealand of ‘zero risk, zero delay, and zero dispute’,” said the Regional Director of United Insulation, Australia and New Zealand. “From now on, choose United.” United Insulation glass wool means the fastest building approvals, the lowest compliance costs, and the most reliable 50-year lifespan.
At present, the CodeMark-certified glass wool is being exported in steady batches to Australia - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, New Zealand - Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and other countries and regions while it's extensively applied to residential/commercial buildings, cold storage, and industrial projects.
